Bowl Predictions 11/5

The top teams held serve yesterday but losses by a few of the others shook things up only a little bit. With the losses towards the bottom and the lack of breakthrough teams winning, there weren’t big changes to the rankings. Here you go:

  7. Miami (biggest jumper)

Alabama took care of business in primetime against the rival, a top 20 team in LSU and retain number 1 status, even though the official CFP rankings have them number 2. Hey look they’re the champs, they’re undefeated, they have their “signature” win so far this season. I have them number 1. Is Georgia better? Probably and hey they took care of business too. That line for the Georgia/South Carolina game with UGA a 24 point favorite? What a joke line that is. USC can wreck a good UGA season. No way I would have gone with that. The game went down like expected and Georgia will be in the SEC Championship game and I think at least they’ll have sugar falling from the sky at the rate they’re going. Good win for Clemson on the road against a dangerous top 20 team. It’s all out in front of them. Notre Dame had a nice little win against Wake Forest. HUGE game in Miami on Saturday. This will tell a lot. Could have quite amount of movement next week if these top 4 falter with 3 of them having tough games…or nothing changes. Wisconsin. So yeah they on paper had a good win. A lot of that game was underwhelming. But they’re undefeated still, they won on the road. They hold serve. I will say it doesn’t help that the Big Ten below them did not have a good day. They have a prime chance to get jumped now. Probably won’t be by Oklahoma though. Bedlam lived up to it. More a basketball score than anything. And this is the problem with the Big 12. No defense. Sigh but hey look they won on the road against another team that was in the rankings, you can’t punish that. But…I’m getting that bad feeling again about Big 12 teams. Color me not impressed. Miami with a big big win at home against a top 15 team. They take the highest rise of the week and they remain undefeated. Ohhh that Notre Dame game is the game of the week coming up. Win that and they’re top 5, probably into the 4 too. Highest opportunity for rise. TCU had a good win against an eh Texas team. Doesn’t hurt them but doesn’t help, they stay where they’re at. Huge game at Oklahoma on Saturday. Probably the biggest game in the Big 12 this year, this should ensure more separation. We’ll know a ton more about how things shake out after this coming week. Washington and the Pac 12 break into the rankings. Ok so last week I had them in the Foster Farms Bowl hahaha, now they’re in the Peach….what a jump. Nice win but dang that Arizona State loss hurts. But that’s their only loss. I don’t think we’ll know how good they really are until they play Washington State. I was so ready to just drop Ohio State out of these rankings altogether. Overrated. They got SLAUGHTERED at Iowa. Horrible. *shakes head* Fortunate that they stay in because the rest of the college football isn’t great. Wake me up for the Michigan game. Central Florida, UCF as they’re called had a pretty good win at home staying undefeated. Won’t know much until they play South Florida I guess. Penn State, *face palm*. I know the weather sucked yesterday in East Lansing. Bad loss though and they too are another team that needs to get out of these rankings. Bad day for the Big Ten. Again though, the bubble teams didn’t get it done. My bubble teams going into yesterday were Iowa State that had a tough game but it wasn’t a good look in that loss…NC State couldn’t get it done…Virginia Tech is just not in the same league and Memphis had a big road win against lousy competition but their loss to UCF hurts. None of the bubble made it. Who could break through next week? Michigan State if they beat Ohio State, Auburn could if they take Georgia, Mississippi State in the same boat if they beat Alabama and Michigan which their big test comes in 2 weeks in Wisconsin. Huge week to come, exciting games this Saturday which will tell a lot and set the tone as we get closer to Championship Saturday.
